Join the Southern Illinois Beginning Forest Landowners Program for a community event organized for forest landowners and natural resource professionals. This opportunity will provide a chance to learn about management on a forest landowner’s property from the landowner’s perspective and provide an opportunity to meet some forest landowners and natural resource professionals who call southern Illinois home.
We will explore Illinois Forestry Association’s Treasurer and Past President, Mike McMahan’s, property and learn about the challenges and successes encountered through his experience with forest management and some resources he has found useful. If weather permits, we will end the evening gathered around a fire and enjoy some food and discussion.
Please rsvp by April 15th if interested by emailing project coordinator, Taryn Bieri, at tbieri@illinois.edu. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let Taryn know.
Directions: Once in Vienna, turn at the McDonald’s to go down Old Metropolis Rd. (this will be a right turn if coming from the West, left turn if coming from the East). Your next turn will be a right onto Indian Point Rd. The property will be about 3 miles down the road. You will take a gravel driveway down to the property at the very end of that road. We will have green signs like the one below posted to help find the location on the day of the event.
