Board & Leadership

The Illinois Forestry Association is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors representing forest landowners, forestry professionals, natural resource specialists, and others who care about the future of Illinois forests.

The Board provides leadership and oversight for the Association, sets priorities, and advances IFA's mission to promote healthy, productive, and sustainable forests throughout Illinois.

OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS

IFA's officers include the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Officers are elected by the membership in accordance with the Association's bylaws. Regional directors provide representation from across Illinois and bring local perspectives and concerns to the Board.

COMMITTEES

Much of IFA's work happens through committees that meet between Board meetings. Committees provide opportunities for members to contribute their knowledge, experience, and ideas while helping the Association accomplish its goals.

Current committees include:

Executive Committee

Addresses matters between Board meetings and other issues as needed.

Finance Committee

Develops the Association's business plan and annual budget and oversees Association funds.

Legislative Committee

Monitors forestry-related legislation and policy and recommends actions to the Board.

Marketing Committee

Coordinates communications and outreach, including newsletters, publications, and other materials.

Committee assignments are reviewed and updated each year. Most committee meetings are conducted virtually, making it easier for members from throughout Illinois to participate.

GET INVOLVED

You don't have to be a Board member to make a difference. IFA members are encouraged to get involved, share their expertise, and participate on committees.

Whether you are a woodland owner, forestry professional, land manager, wood-products business owner, or simply someone who cares about Illinois forests, your perspective can help strengthen the Association.

If you are interested in serving on a committee or learning more about how you can become involved, contact info@ilforestry.org.
