There is more than one way to help Illinois forests

IFA runs on people. Members fund the work, volunteers make events happen, partner organizations extend our reach, and donors let us take on more than dues alone would cover.

You do not need to own woodland, or work in forestry, to be part of it. Here is where to start.

Become a Member

Membership is the most direct way to support IFA and the simplest way to stay connected. Members receive:

  • First access to our newsletters and event announcements

  • National Woodlands magazine, the quarterly publication of the National Woodland Owners Association, mailed to your door

  • Voting rights in the Association, including the right to remove and replace Directors

  • An invitation to the Annual Membership Conference, where IFA reports on its work and plans for the year ahead

The membership page has the full list.

Volunteer & Partner

Field days, workshops, and the Annual Conference all depend on volunteers. We also work alongside universities, agencies, and conservation organizations on shared goals, and we are always glad to hear from groups whose work overlaps with ours.

Donate

Gifts to IFA fund education programs, stewardship of our woodlands, and the technical assistance that helps landowners make good decisions. IFA is a 501(c)(3) organization, so contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Planned Giving

A bequest, a gift of land, or another planned gift can support Illinois forests well beyond your lifetime. If you are thinking through what happens to your woodland or your estate, we are glad to talk it over.
