Forest landowners in Crawford, Lawrence, Clark, and Jasper Counties are invited to attend a forestry workshop that will include information about a new cost-share program (RCPP) to improve woodlands. Speakers will include Laura Klingler from NRCS, explaining the ins and outs of the Regional Conservation Partnership Program and a special pool of EQIP dollars that have been set aside for forestry practices in 37 target counties in Illinois. Amy Warner will talk about Farm Service Agency (FSA) updates to the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). Foresters Wade Bloemer and Justin Adams will highlight values of timberland and practices to be cost-shared. An afternoon session will begin at 1 p.m. and feature Extension Forester Chris Evans covering identification and control of common woodland invasives. Participants will be indoors at first, but also have a "hands on" opportunity outside, so dress appropriately. A free soup lunch will be provided.
Call to RSVP: 618/544-7517, Ext. 3. Space is limited, so register today! Sponsored by the Crawford County Soil & Water Conservation District and Crawford County Farm Bureau.
