Tree Pruning for Municipal Staff

The Illinois Arborist Association (IAA) is providing an important training opportunity for any agency staff that manages public trees on streets, parks or rural roads. Funded by the US Forest Service and administered through Southern Illinois University with assistance from the Illinios Department of Natural Resources, the IAA is providing a one-day workshop in eight locations throughout Illinois. Instructors are all ISA Certified Arborists. Sessions will consist of classroom instructions and hands on practice in the field.

Topics will include:

  • Tree biology
  • Safety
  • Pruning techniques
  • Equipment and risk reduction.
The objective of the workshop is to assist agency staff in maintaining their tree resource for improved health, longevity, reduced cost, reduced risk and enhanced staff skills. All participants will receive a copy of the ANSI Z-133 safety standards and a copy of the International Society of Arboriculture's "Best Management Practices - Pruning" publication.
