Enjoy a walk in the woods with Forester and Timber Buyer, Landon Satterfield and University of Illinois Extension Forester, Chris Evans as they discuss the process of harvesting timber on private forests. Discussions will center around the decision making process of selecting trees for harvest, expectations during and post-harvest, as well as management strategies post-harvest. This guided hike will take place on a site that is actively being harvested, thus, attendees will get to see some areas that have already been cut. Be aware that this hike has some challenging hills and terrain. Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.
The property is around a 10 minute drive from Giant City State Park. We will carpool from the Giant City Lodge parking lot. The meeting area will be marked by signs.
This event is free and open to the public but registration is required.
