Jo Daviess County: Chain Saw Safety - Game of Logging, Level 1
When
10/27/2012
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Location
Arnold Farm
A beginning chain saw safety workshop will be held Saturday October 27th. This course will follow the Game of Logging Day 1 (basic) outline. This course will cover the open-face felling method and the five step felling plan, personal protective equipment, chainsaw safety features, chainsaw reactive forces, bore cutting, pre-planning the fell, and understanding hinge wood strength.
Certified instructor is Ken Lallemont, who has taught these courses throughout the nation. The course is sponsored by the Northwest Illinois Forestry Association with a grant from the Illinois Tree Farm Committee.
The training will be at Tom Arnold's Farm, 997 Salem Road, Elizabeth, IL.
Registration is required by contacting Keith Arnold at (815) 947-2941. Also, call Keith if you have any questions. Class size is limited to 12 students for each day. Participants must bring their own personal protective equipment, chain saw, and a lunch.
Each one-day course costs $100. However, a contribution from the Illinois Tree Farm Committee has lowered this fee to $70. In addition, if you are a member of the Northwest Illinois Forestry Association, the fee is further reduced to $50 per person per day.
