Jo Daviess County: Thinning Demonstration

A demonstration of thinning a timber plantation will be held at the Tom and Judy Syke Farm, 6800 Rocky Road, East Dubuque, Illinois, starting at 1:00 pm. This event is jointly sponsored by the Illinois Walnut Council (IWC), the Northwest Illinois Forestry Association, and the Illinois Forestry Association. Steve Felt, IDNR district forester and IWC secretary, will lead the event, which is open to the public. The forest stand in which the event will take place is a twenty year old walnut plantation. To get there, take US Highway 20 west 1.5 miles past Menominee Road to Imbus Road, turn right and then left onto Rocky Road. Follow Rocky Road until it ends, approximately 1 mile.
