More than 60 species of trees and shrubs are native to the Natural Areas of Allerton Park and Retreat Center. Can you tell the difference between an oak and a hickory? How about the difference between a shagbark hickory and a shellbark hickory? Do you know which native tree species is used to make Popsicle sticks or golf club heads? Join Allerton natural areas manager Nate Beccue for a guided hike focused on native tree identification and the natural and cultural history of our native species. Registration is required and the event will be limited to 25 participants. Meet at the Allerton Park and Retreat Center Lost Garden Parking Lot at 9am. Fee is $5 per person. Click here to register.
